About

The Friends of CODART Foundation supports CODART, the international network of museum curators of Dutch and Flemish art from ca. 1350 to 1750.

CODART aims to raise the profile of, and expand knowledge about, Dutch and Flemish art before 1800, which is preserved in many museums around the world, by supporting the curators of these collections in their work and by providing information that can make this category of art more visible and accessible to an international public.

CODART seeks to connect, inform, and inspire its members – to bring them together and to provide them with a platform. Together, we show that Dutch and Flemish art from before 1800 is of enduring value and relevance, because of its art-historical qualities and its inextricable links with the art of other cultures and periods.

CODART implements its mission and vision in diverse ways:

By maintaining an international network of approximately 600 curators of Dutch and Flemish art before 1800, working in about 300 museums worldwide;
By providing high-quality information through its online channels and by organizing activities for members – and occasionally for other target groups;
By identifying and programming – and placing on the agenda – subjects that are key to conceptualizing and developing the profession of curator of Dutch and Flemish art before 1800.
