IDO

IDO is an independent humanitarian non-governmental organization whose primary objective is to help rural communities in maintaining sustainable drinking water supplies.
IDO is mission is not to fund construction projects. Our main focus is a) to make the villages autonomous and able to take the ownership of their fresh water supplies, and b) support them in their activities on a long term basis.
Main operating activities
a) train and help villagers establish an organized team of people (water management committees) that are able to manage and maintain sustainable and independent long-term access to potable water in their villages, including the development of a financial structure needed to fund well repairs
b) create and maintain a technical and logistics support organisation that villages can call upon. It consists of a network of local service men who are especially trained for the task and a team of IDO technicians which, through a proactive strategy of well inventory and a diagnosis of non-operational pumps, defines the support needed and spare parts to be stocked
c) develop and maintain a centralised digital filing of all relevant data related to the state of the villages access to fresh water.
Provide all relevant data to local authorities and governmental institutions.
