The purpose of the Foundation is to initiate and support, directly or indirectly, programs of hand surgery and rehabilitation/physiotherapy, preferably for children suffering from the consequences of trauma or burns, congenital malformations, paralysis, amputations, and any other deformity, disease, or disability requiring functional and/or aesthetic reconstruction. The same activity may also be extended to adults with similar needs.
The Foundation also aims to provide training for surgical, medical, paramedical, and nursing staff in the areas of intervention, in order to transfer and promote its expertise, professionalism, work ethic, and moral principles at the local level, thereby contributing to improving treatment opportunities and the quality of reconstructive care for disadvantaged individuals.
The Foundation operates in countries and geographical areas where access to healthcare for sick individuals is severely impaired by poverty, conflict, social hardship, or natural disasters. In particular, its activities are intended to benefit “the poorest of the poor.”
The Foundation may acquire, renovate, and/or manage real estate in Switzerland and abroad, provided that such properties are used in line with the Foundation’s purpose and for social aims. In particular, this includes healthcare or hospital facilities in the countries of intervention.
The Foundation may establish or participate in companies in Switzerland and abroad, provided that such companies are non-profit or, in any case, do not distribute dividends.
