Eco-Benin ONG Fund

Eco-Benin’s mission is to promote human development at local and national level through the management and enhancement of natural resources for the purposes of ecotourism and eco-development.
1) Consulting assistance in eco-development
– Carry out feasibility studies for ecological development;
– Create and strengthen the legal framework enabling local authorities to participate in the management of the biological resources of their territories;
– Promote eco-development initiatives in the food, health and land management sectors.
2) Planning and management of ecotourism areas
– Develop local expertise in community-based land management;
– Draw up development and management plans for ecotourism areas;
– Develop and implement local ecotourism promotion projects;
3) Social mobilization and training
– Develop environmental education/communication;
– Promote formal/informal basic education;
– Integrate poverty reduction and gender into natural resource management projects.

Eco-Benin is a Beninese NGO created in 1999. Eco-Benin is an IUCN Member and uses ecotourism initiatives and climate change adaptation practices as an economic pillar for the development of local communities.
The theory of change that guides Eco-Benin’s interventions is as follows: “IF we make better use of natural resources through ecotourism and ecodevelopment, THEN nature will be preserved and local populations will improve their living conditions BECAUSE ecotourism and ecodevelopment promote the sustainable management of natural resources that form the basis of the livelihoods of the majority of populations”.
