The Foundation has chosen Venice as the pilot city for this new paradigm. For more than a millennium, Venice has often been a pioneer in many domains — political, economic, and artistic — and it has the potential to become so once again today.
The city has long embodied values of openness, tolerance, and peace, which are more essential today than ever. Both fragile and powerful, Venice is emblematic and legitimate in carrying a universal model in which human beings and nature interact consciously and harmoniously — a model capable of inspiring other cities around the world, particularly in Europe.
The principal ally of this new model is the Living world — the higher intelligence that governs everything that carries life: human beings, animals, soil, plants, and ecosystems.
The ambition is to bridge past and future, materiality and spirituality, enabling both individual flourishing and economic development while restoring the natural ecosystems that sustain life. By drawing inspiration from the Living world — this “natural intelligence,” an infinite source of innovation and power — it becomes possible to imagine and build a regenerative and harmonious future.
