Founded in 2005 through a unique partnership between the non-profit organization Oxfam Solidarité and the Ictus musical ensemble, Music Fund is a non-profit association that supports initiatives – music schools and socio-artistic projects – that work to democratize access to culture, both in the Global South (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Palestine, Mozambique, and Morocco) and across Europe. More specifically, its mission is to enable disadvantaged communities to practice music under good conditions and to foster supportive communities that are aware of today’s societal challenges. In this way, Music Fund seeks to contribute to a distinctive form of development cooperation while promoting the cultural and artistic empowerment of local populations.
