The Château des Hamendes is a Belgian non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable people while preserving and revitalising an important historic heritage site.
Our primary mission is to welcome and support people experiencing social difficulties, particularly those facing housing insecurity in the Charleroi region. We also operate a Housing First programme, helping people experiencing homelessness to access permanent housing with personalised support, enabling them to rebuild their lives.
In addition, the Château des Hamendes provides facilities for local non-profit organisations and community partners working in the fields of social inclusion, education and youth development. By bringing these organisations together on one site, we foster collaboration, innovation and community engagement.
At the same time, we are restoring and preserving the Château des Hamendes as a historic landmark, transforming it into a vibrant community hub. Through cultural, educational and heritage activities, we strengthen the connection between the château and local residents, ensuring that this remarkable site remains a place of solidarity, inclusion and shared heritage for future generations.
