The Conservatoire du Patrimoine des Abbayes is a French non-profit association founded in 2015 at Saint-Pierre Abbey in Mas-Grenier, near Toulouse, a house of the Benedictine Congregation of Saint-Maur from 1645 until the French Revolution. It is a lay association, not a religious one, and its work is open to all.
Following the Maurist tradition, it holds study, teaching and craft together:
• research on monastic history and its sources
• residential courses in Gregorian chant, Latin and palaeography;
• training worksites where craftsmen, students and volunteers learn on the restoration of the abbey.
It hosts placements and research stays, is accredited for the French Civic Service, and takes part in the national working group on Gregorian chant as intangible cultural heritage.
Gifts fund bursaries for the courses, research and its publication, the craft workshops, and the restoration of monastic heritage.
