The Island School of Social Autonomy (ISSA) is a space for radical education, collaborative learning, and practical skill-building focused on sustainability, conviviality and autonomy. Located on the island of Vis, ISSA fosters community-driven approaches to social autonomy through workshops, research, and artistic interventions. Our activities include construction of all sorts, dry stone walling, water collection, pirate radio, artistic interventions, cultural programs and experimental pedagogies, creating a platform for shared knowledge and action. By bridging traditional island knowledge with contemporary social and ecological movements, ISSA cultivates tools for thriving in times of crisis. We connect local and transnational partners to explore sustainable futures rooted in mutual aid, conviviality, and commoning.
