About

The Fondation Maeght was born in the 1950s thanks to the singular destiny of Aimé and Marguerite Maeght, Europeʼs leading art publishers and dealers in the post-war era, when they bought a property in Saint-Paul de Vence. The Foundation would revolutionize the relationship between the public and the contemporary art world. Restoring artʼs place in life and offering it to as wide of an audience as possible is the idea that has governed the Fondation Maeght since 1964, and the true meaning of the mission Marguerite and Aimé Maeght set themselves. Today the Foundation represents one of the best collections of Modern Art in the world with over 13,000 items and is a key element in the history of art of the 1950s, which includes masterpieces by some of the most important figures of their time: : an exceptional collection of sculptures by Alberto Giacometti and works by Joan Miró with masterpieces by Pierre Bonnard, Marc Chagall, Alexander Calder, Georges Braque and many others.
