In recent years, it has become both appropriate and necessary to create elephant placement centers in France and Europe. Private elephant owners, animal parks, zoos and other organizations may need a place for their elephant(s) to live. Almost all European countries ban wild animals from circusses, including France. Bringing them back to their country of origin is sometimes not possible. There was no place to house the elephants in France or in Europe. This is the true story of Gandhi and Delhi, Asian female elephants, our 2 first retired residents in EHEES, who have now a place for life. They, and the future residents of Elephant Haven, need a lot of attention. The sanctuary depends on donations. So the challenge is to get financial help to give them the daily care they need, as there are numerous requests to welcome additional elephants in EHEES.
