The Black Jaguar Foundation offers a tangible solution to counter the drastic degradation of the Amazon rainforest and the Cerrado savanna in Brazil. We pursue one clear objective: planting native trees on a massive scale to help realize the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in Central Brazil to improve the lives of each of us by maintaining together with local landowners the natural resources. We make the landowners the heroes and the guardians of the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor.
It is the longest and widest biodiversity corridor on earth with a total length of 2,600 kilometres and a width of up to 40 kilometres. This is about the same distance as from London to Moscow. Situated alongside the riverbanks of the entire Araguaia river and part of the Tocantins river, the Corridor connects two of the world’s most vital ecosystems: The Amazon rainforest and the Cerrado savanna.
