ISTR is a major international membership association promoting research and education in the field of civil society, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. ISTR’s mission is to promote the development of high-quality research and education internationally on Third Sector related issues, theories, and policies; and to enhance the dissemination and application of knowledge about the Third Sector as widely as possible throughout the world. The society has over 700 members, from 60+ countries, publishes the respected journal, Voluntas, organizes regional networks and conferences, PhD seminars, mentoring programs, affinity groups, and host a biennial international conference.
