M HKA, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Antwerp, was established in 1985.
It has evolved over time as a museum dedicated to art, film and visual culture in its widest sense. It is an open place where art, artists and the public meet. M HKA bridges the gap between artistic questions and wider societal issues, between the international and the regional, artists and public, reflection and presentation. The museum’s collection and acquisitions are central to its activities, as well as related areas of outreach and research. Its program is grounded in the avant-garde tradition of Antwerp, and uses this as a basis for a progressive and meaningful internationalism.
