Making cross-border giving simple, secure, and tax-effective
Giving Europe (formerly Transnational Giving Europe) was established in 1995 by four leading European foundations - in Belgium (King Baudouin Foundation), France (Fondation de France), the Netherlands (Juliana Welzijn Fonds) and the United Kingdom (Charities Aid Foundation) - to enable, improve and facilitate cross-border philanthropy in Europe. The network has now expanded to cover 19 countries - with the ambition to grow even larger.
Giving Europe guarantees a tax-efficient treatment of cross-border donations, alongside a professional due diligence of the final charities supported. It is composed of leading and renowned European national organisations that enable donors - both corporations and individuals - resident in one of the participating countries to financially support non-profit organisations across borders, while benefiting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.
Formerly hosted by the King Baudouin Foundation, the network, its operations, brand, assets and activities were transferred on 1 July 2025 to Philea, Philanthropy Europe Association, Europe’s largest membership body for philanthropy. Philea nurtures a diverse and inclusive ecosystem of foundations, philanthropic organisations and networks in over 30 countries that work for the common good. With individual and national-level infrastructure organisations as members, Philea unites almost 9,000 public-benefit foundations that seek to improve life for people and communities in Europe and around the world.
